<p>This is a favorite dish among Jews from Turkey.</p>
<p>3 pounds cleaned fish (any firm-fleshed fish)<br />1/2 cup oil, <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/butter/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with butter">butter</a> or vegetable shortening<br />Salt, to taste<br />2 large onions<br />4 large tomatoes or 1 cup strained, canned tomatoes<br />1 cup boiling water<br />Parsley and/or fresh mint<br />Lemon wedges (optional)</p>
<p>Prepare fish as for broiling. Rub inside and outside with oil and salt lightly. Broil under low heat, turning when inner side is brown, then brown outer side. Place the fish in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Cover with sliced onions and tomatoes or the strained canned tomato. Sprinkle lightly with salt, and bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees F.</p>
<p>Add 1 cup boiling water and baste. Bake 5 to 10 minutes longer.
<p>Serve either hot or cold, garnished with parsley and/or fresh mint. Serve with lemon wedges if desired.</p>
<p>Serves 6.</p>

<p>Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.</p>
<p>In a medium bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar and the 3/4 cup butter until crumbly. Press into prepared pan. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until light brown.</p>
<p>In a <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/food/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with food">food</a> processor, combine <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/eggs/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Eggs">eggs</a>, brown sugar, vanilla extract and baking powder and process until smooth. Pour in cherries and walnuts and pulse until just chopped and incorporated, but not pulverized. Pour over crust. Bake 25 minutes, until center is set.</p>
<p>To frost, cream together confectioners&#8217; sugar with the 2 tablespoons butter and 4 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice until fluffy. Frost cooled bars, and cut.</p>
<p>Makes 36 servings </p>

Sprinkle with the remaining 3/4 cup of bread crumbs until all the pieces are covered. Mix the sour cream with the heated chicken broth and pour over the chicken. Bake for 45-60 minutes, until lightly browned. <p>1/3 cup all-purpose flour<br />1 1/2 teaspoons salt<br />1 1/2 teaspoons pepper<br />1 1/2 teaspoons paprika<br />1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard<br />1 (3 pound) boneless round steak, cut into serving-size pieces<br />3 tablespoons vegetable oil<br />3 tablespoons <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/butter/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with butter">butter</a> or margarine<br />1 1/2 cups water<br />1 1/2 cups sour cream<br />1 cup finely-chopped onion<br />2 garlic cloves, minced<br />1/3 cup soy sauce<br />1/4 to 1/3 cup packed brown sugar<br />3 tablespoons all-purpose flour<br />Additional paprika (optional)</p>
<p>In a shallow bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika and mustard; dredge the steak. In a large skillet, heat oil and <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/butter/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with butter">butter</a>. <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/cook/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with cook">Cook</a> steak on both sides until browned. Carefully add water; cover and simmer for 30 minutes.</p>
<p>In a bowl combine the sour cream, onion, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar and flour; stir until smooth. Transfer steak to a greased 2 1/2-quart baking dish; add sour cream <a href="http://www.recipe.fi/tag/mixture/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Mixture">mixture</a>. Cover and bake at 325 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours or until tender. Sprinkle with paprika if desired.</p>

If making ahead, cover and let stand up to 1 hour. Bake uncovered in a preheated 350 F oven for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. If desired, freeze, thaw and reheat, covered in a preheated 300 F oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until hot. To serve, dollop with some of the sour cream. Serve remaining sour cream separately.
